Summer is finally here and I’m so happy to be posting about summer spots! La Petite Reine bar: a slice of (hipster) heaven.
It’s the first thing that came to mind when I sat at my laptop editing photos for my post on La Petite Reine (or translated in English, “The Little Queen”, which I’m told by an actual Genevois is what people refer to bikes as. First, huh??? I totally don’t get the association, but if someone could explain it, I’d be so appreciative and second, a real life Genevois?! That’s like finding a unicorn!
I totally don’t get the feeling that this is an underground bar; it is behind Gare Cornavin after all. But there’s still something that feels so special about being there. You can’t help feeling like one of the cool kids, even if you’re too cool to admit it.
This is the place spring and summertime dreams are made of. It’s super casual, the drinks are basic: beer, wine and a limited selection of cocktail and liquor options, but it’s all that you need. La Petite Reine is perfectly located to catch the last bits of sun at the end of a long day and has the perfect terrace for you to do so.
The staff is super laid-back and friendly and I recently discovered that they serve AMAZING empanadas…empanadas are forever my weakness. I just can’t say no. Ever. So I know what I’m talking about. And can you believe that another night I went, after realizing that a dear friend and the creator of Geneva’s Social Butterflies was there, that they had the audacity to have brownies…amazingly delicious looking brownies. They ran out by the time I went back to the bar (clearly everyone else knew what I didn’t) but, I fully intend to go back to get some of that goodness.
La Petite Reine is sure to become your summer hot-spot if you give it a chance. The energy is lively and the crowd is wreaks of cool; cool young people (hipsters included) and even cooler older people who are all just down to have a drink and a laugh with friends.
