Why did you move to Geneva?
I had finished a master’s in Vancouver, BC + knew that I wouldn’t stay there, but wasn’t sure where to go (I’ve lived in many places these past 10 years). My sweetheart is from Geneva, so I decided to move here + feel things out.
What is your favorite area in Geneva to have fun and why?
What are your favorite things to do and places to go?
I like reading and writing at the archeology library in the old town, drinking a cold ginger tea at Remor, going to the farmers’ markets in plainpalais + carouge, marveling at the remedies at Pharmacie des Eaux Vives — I love spending time just outside of Geneva, too — in the woods in Hermance and Jussy.
What is the hardest part about living in Geneva?
For me it’s being so far-flung from my family and close friends.
What advice would you give to a new arrival who is #CopingWithGeneva?
Swim in the lake as often as you can + count your blessings.
What is one thing you want people to know about Geneva?
It never takes more than 20 minutes to be wherever you want to be; it’s a very manageable city.
What is one thing about yourself which makes you unique?
I love salty licorice as if I were a full-bloodied Scandinavian (I’m not).
